Las Vegas, NV (January 4, 2022) – Troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, reported a multi-vehicle accident that involved a semi-truck and occurred Monday, January 3.
Authorities say eight people suffered injuries following the incident, which happened on Interstate 15.
Per initial reports, the three-vehicle pile-up took place around 1:30 p.m. on I-15 near the California State Line. Officers say that it appears a tractor-trailer driver did not yield for stopped traffic on Interstate 15, colliding with a Dodge Ram with four adults and a child inside.
Due to the impact, the Dodge Ram was pushed into a Bentley, which had one adult and three children inside. Upon arrival, crews airlifted the Dodge Ram driver to University Medical Center, and four other occupants of the Dodge were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Medics also took the Bentley driver and the two children to UMC via ambulance.
Traffic in the southbound lanes of the interstate was delayed while officers completed the on-scene portion of their investigation.
The crash remains under investigation, however, and police have not provided further details.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
