Las Vegas, NV – UPDATE: George Goss Dies After E Flamingo Rd Bicycle Accident at S Mojave

Las Vegas, NV (December 9, 2021) – Authorities say that a 59-year-old bicyclist has died after a crash that occurred on Monday morning, November 29, on the east side of the valley.

Authorities identified George Goss, of Las Vegas, as the man who died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center on Wednesday, December 8.

The fatal bicycle accident took place at East Flamingo Road and South Mojave Road. Reports showed that Goss was going through a crosswalk with flashing yellow lights when he was hit by a car that was traveling eastbound on Flamingo.

The driver of the car, identified only as an 18-year-old Las Vegas woman, did not suffer injuries. Authorities believe that impairment was not a factor. Their investigation remains active, and it’s unclear if citations or charges are pending.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of George Goss.

Deadly Bicycle Accidents in Nevada

Las Vegas, NV - UPDATE: George Goss Dies After E Flamingo Rd Bicycle Accident at S Mojave

The number of deaths caused by bicycle accidents increased nearly 40% in the last decade, according to the National Safety Council. Though the number of preventable crash injuries has decreased overall, they still remain high across the country and statewide in Nevada.

Moreover, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data note that one in five fatalities on American roadways occurred on a motorcycle or bicycle. And despite a general decline in Nevada vehicle accidents, traffic deaths are all too common.

Unfortunately, tragic consequences are more likely to befall victims of a bicycle accident. Bicyclists, like pedestrians, are at much higher risk for serious injury or death. Because they lack the protection of a passenger vehicle, they’re vulnerable to other motorists on the road. Crash victims may sustain TBIs, catastrophic organ damage, and more. Sadly, this can mean costly medical bills and job loss, or even fatal consequences for those injured.

Thankfully, those affected by these accidents can contact a Nevada injury lawyer for help. In some cases, a lawyer well-versed in Nevada state law can help victims and their families. Those affected may be able to seek a full, fair settlement from a personal injury or a wrongful death lawsuit.
