Las Vegas, NV (November 5, 2021) – Officers with the Las Vegas Police Department say that a school bus driver hit and killed a woman as she was crossing the street on Thursday afternoon, November 4, and have since released her identity.

Investigators say the school bus was stopped at a stop sign on southbound Warnock Road, near Decatur Boulevard, before making a right turn and hitting the woman, identified as 65-year-old Nita Livingston, around 3:30 p.m.

Livingston was crossing Warnock Road from the northwest corner to the northeast corner when the incident occurred. The front of the school bus hit Livingston, knocking her onto the ground. The investigation is ongoing at this time, and it’s unclear if any citations or charges are pending.

Nevada Pedestrian Accident Deaths

Las Vegas, NV - UPDATE: Nita Livingston Identified in Bus-Pedestrian Wreck on Warnock Rd at Decatur Blvd

According to Nevada Department of Transportation officials, motor vehicle accidents claimed the lives of more than 60 pedestrians. Throughout Las Vegas in the last year alone, nearly 100 of these victims suffered serious injuries or lost their lives. Authorities say this marked an increase of almost 20% compared to the previous year.

Even worse, Las Vegas’s pedestrian fatality rate has been rising steadily during the past decade. This increase is despite the fact that traffic deaths across the state of Nevada are down overall.

Clearly, per this information released by authorities, these pedestrian accidents are an unfortunate fact of life in Nevada. Pedestrian accidents remain particularly common on the busy streets of Las Vegas. And when it comes to these fatal accidents, victims and their families are particularly vulnerable in the aftermath.

After a pedestrian accident, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and emotional trauma.
