2027 Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarship

The Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarship from Valiente Mott Injury Attorneys was created to encourage students to think critically about the growing dangers of distracted driving and the devastating impact it can have on individuals, families, and communities. From texting behind the wheel to relying too heavily on in-car technology, distracted driving continues to be one of the leading causes of preventable accidents across the country.

Through this scholarship, students are invited to share their perspectives on how distracted driving has affected their lives or the lives of those around them and what it will take to create safer roads and encourage more responsible driving habits. Whether through education, stronger awareness efforts, advancements in technology, or a broader cultural shift in how young drivers view distracted driving, applicants are encouraged to explore meaningful solutions that can help prevent this dangerous behavior and future tragedies.

Eligibility

• The Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarship is available to students across the United States who are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited educational program. Eligible applicants include high school seniors, vocational school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students who are legal residents of any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and attending a vocational institution or a two or four year post secondary school.
• Individuals employed by Valiente Mott Injury Attorneys are not eligible to apply. This exclusion also applies to immediate family members, including parents, children, siblings, and spouses, as well as anyone living in the same household as an employee, regardless of relation.
• Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.

Application Requirements

• The candidate must fill out the form below with all necessary information
• The candidate must submit either:
  • A 750-1,000 word essay, or
  • A 3-5 minute video essay
• Applicants should respond to the following prompt:
  • How has distracted driving affected your life or the lives of those around you? What ideas do you have to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving and help prevent this behavior among young drivers?
  • Please note that all essays will be checked for AI writing. If AI writing is deemed present in the essay, the application will be denied.
• The candidate must submit a professional resumé that lists their experience, both professional and academic.
• The candidate must submit a transcript from their current school. First-year college students, graduate students, or individuals who have recently transferred schools may submit an unofficial transcript from their current school, as well as the most recent official transcript from their prior school. High school students can submit proof of acceptance to their college or university.
• Preference will be given to students either from or attending secondary school in the state.

The recipient of the 2027 Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarship will be chosen during the month following the scholarship deadline.
