Reno, NV (January 7, 2022) – Fire rescue units and police officers say that on Thursday, January 6, at least one victim was hurt in a residential fire.
Crews knocked down the fire at 3260 Lymbery Street around 10:30 a.m. Officials noted that the blaze appeared to be caused by an unattended candle that ignited holiday decorations nearby. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the main floor of the home and had extinguished it by the early afternoon.
EMS units were on the scene to evaluate residents, though the total number of injured victims is unknown.
Two pets were also in the residence at the time of the fire, and crews had to revive one.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and everyone else affected by this fire. We hope for their full recovery.
Residential Fires in Nevada
Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency say that burn injuries and residential blazes in apartments or houses are responsible for nearly 70% of all fire fatalities statewide. Over the past several years, the rate of these incidents has steadily increased.
In fact, these blazes in the Silver State fall right at the national average in terms of frequency. Moreover, residential fires account for nearly 73% of deaths and almost 80% of serious injuries, particularly in the greater Las Vegas area.
Unfortunately, tragic consequences are more likely to befall victims after a major fire. For example, fire victims may sustain serious scarring, long-term damage from smoke inhalation, and more. Sadly, this can mean costly medical bills and even job loss or death for those injured.
Thankfully, those affected by these tragic incidents can contact a Nevada injury lawyer for help. In some cases, a lawyer well-versed in Nevada state law can help victims or their families seek their full, fair settlement from a personal injury or a wrongful death lawsuit.
