Henderson, NV (September 24, 2021) – Authorities with the Clark County Coroner’s Office have identified the bicyclist who was hit by an SUV in the Henderson area last Friday evening, September 17.
The bicyclist, 29-year-old Zachary Allum, was struck and killed after a serious crash at a local intersection. Officials have not yet determined the cause and manner of death, however.
Officers with the Henderson Police Department released their initial findings this week. HPD reports stated that an Alfa Romeo SUV was traveling eastbound on West Lake Mead Parkway at Perlite Way around 9:00 p.m. At that time, the driver of the SUV crossed into a bicycle lane and hit Allum, who was riding within the lane.
Paramedics performed life-saving measures at the scene and then rushed Allum to an area medical center via ambulance. He was in critical condition upon arrival.
Allum died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center on Saturday.
Police say the driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with authorities. They do not believe speed or impairment factored into the crash but added that their investigation is still ongoing.
