Two Hospitalized, Driver Arrested in Motorcycle Wreck at E Cheyenne Ave & N Lamb Blvd

Las Vegas, NV (October 16, 2021) – Troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol said a victim suffered serious injuries in a major motorcycle crash in Las Vegas on Saturday morning, October 16.

Two people suffered critical injuries, and police arrested a man after the wreck involving a car and motorcycle in the northeast valley. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded around 1:50 a.m. to the crash, which occurred near East Cheyenne Avenue and North Lamb Boulevard.

Initial reports indicate that a motorcyclist with their passenger was traveling eastbound on Cheyenne approaching Lamb when the collision occurred. At that time, the driver of a Dodge Durango traveling southbound entered the intersection on a red light, hitting the motorcyclist.

After the crash, the driver of the Dodge fled the scene. Police later apprehended the driver and say they showed signs of impairment.

EMS took the 36-year-old male motorcyclist and a 40-year-old female passenger to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, however, and authorities have not provided further details.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim in hopes of a full recovery.

Serious Motorcycle Accidents in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV - Two Hospitalized, Driver Arrested in Motorcycle Wreck at E Cheyenne Ave & N Lamb Blvd

Officials with the U.S. Department of Transportation say motorcycle accidents are responsible for nearly 15% of all traffic fatalities nationwide. Over the past several years, motorcycle wrecks have steadily increased.

In fact, these accidents have more than doubled in the last 25 years. Moreover, data released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that one in seven fatalities on American roadways occurred on a motorcycle. And despite a general decline in Nevada motor vehicle accidents, traffic deaths as a result of motorcycle collisions are at their highest level in more than a decade.

Unfortunately, tragic consequences are more likely to befall victims after a motorcycle accident. Motorcyclists are at much higher risk for serious injury or death because they lack the protection a passenger vehicle offers other drivers.

For example, crash victims may sustain TBIs, catastrophic organ damage, and more. Sadly, this can mean costly medical bills and even job loss or death for those injured.

Thankfully, those affected by these motorcycle wrecks can contact a Nevada motorcycle crash lawyer for help. In some cases, a lawyer well-versed in Nevada state law can help victims or their families seek their full, fair settlement from a personal injury or a wrongful death lawsuit.
