Las Vegas, NV (September 30, 2021) – Officers with the Las Vegas Police Department are investigating a deadly overnight accident that happened on Tuesday, September 8.
An 80-year-old woman died after the Las Vegas collision. Initial reports stated that a 2017 Forest River recreational vehicle was traveling westbound through the intersection of Flamingo Road and Burnham Avenue during the afternoon. At that time, a 2012 Ford F150 pickup truck ran a red light and struck the RV.
The driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene, and police said he did not show signs of impairment. EMS personnel transported two women from the RV to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
Medical authorities notified officers several hours later that the passenger from the RV succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators are still piecing together the events causing the wreck and have not provided any other information about the victims.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
Las Vegas Auto Accident Deaths
The Nevada Department of Transportation provided recent data, showing nearly 52,000 car crashes occurred throughout the state in one year alone. And officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department say that almost 44% of that total occurred in the greater Las Vegas area.
Clearly, these motor vehicle accidents are an unfortunately common fact of life in Nevada, particularly on the bustling streets of Las Vegas. When it comes to fatal accidents and pedestrian incidents across the state, victims and families are particularly vulnerable in the aftermath.
After a car accident, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and serious emotional trauma. Sadly, when victims succumb to their injuries, family members must deal with expensive medical and funerary costs.
