Five Hurt in Three-Car Wreck at Cheyenne Ave & Pecos Rd

North Las Vegas, NV (September 24, 2021) – Paramedics transported three adults and two children to the hospital after a suspected DUI accident occurred in North Las Vegas on Thursday evening, September 23.

Officers with North Las Vegas Police Department responded to the wreck, which involved three vehicles, shortly before 8:00 p.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Pecos Road.

Initial reports indicate that a red Chevy Silverado was speeding southbound on Pecos when it collided with a silver Nissan SUV making a left turn onto Cheyenne. The impact pushed both vehicles into a silver Ford Focus.

Two men were traveling inside the red Chevy Silverado at the time of the collision. Both sustained injuries and paramedics transported them to UMC, police say. The extent of those injuries is unclear at this time, however.

A woman was driving the Nissan with two children inside, a one-year-old and a four-year-old. All three are now hospitalized at UMC, police say. The one-year-old was in critical condition upon arrival but is now stable. The four-year-old remains in critical condition. Police say the woman suffered minor injuries.

Three people in the Ford Focus all remained on the scene. Paramedics treated them for minor injuries as well.

NLVPD asked anyone with information about the accident to contact them. Their investigation is ongoing at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Las Vegas

North Las Vegas, NV - Five Hurt in Three-Car Wreck at Cheyenne Ave & Pecos Rd

Per reports from local authorities, Nevada claims an average of 300 deadly motor vehicle accidents every year. Moreover, Nevada ranks near the middle in the number of total vehicle deaths in comparison to other states. Unfortunately, the number of car crash fatalities statewide increased nearly 4% from 2019 to 2020, despite less traffic on the roads during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clearly, these motor vehicle accidents are an unfortunately common fact of life in Nevada. This is especially true on the busy, packed streets of Las Vegas. When it comes to fatal accidents and pedestrian incidents across the state, victims and families are particularly vulnerable in the aftermath.

After a car accident, those affected often cope with financial difficulties, long-term physical issues, and serious emotional trauma. Sadly, when victims succumb to their injuries, family members must endure devastating consequences. Oftentimes, families pay expensive medical and funerary costs in the aftermath.
